EFT might sound strange the first time you hear about it. This article is short and friendly, so you can try it today if you'd like.

    What EFT really is

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. People often just call it "tapping."

It's a simple practice where you gently tap with your fingertips on a few points on your face and body, while quietly noticing how you feel. That's really all it is.

    Why it works

When you're stressed, your body holds the tension. Tapping sends small, calming signals to your nervous system, telling it, "you can let go a little now."

Studies have shown that tapping can lower stress hormones and ease feelings of anxiety, often more quickly than just talking or thinking about a problem.

It's not magic. It's your body, helped along by your hands.

A very simple way to try it

You don't need to do this perfectly. There's no wrong way.

    1. Notice how you feel right now. Just a word: tired, anxious, sad, tight.
    2. With two fingers, gently tap on the side of your other hand (the soft "karate-chop" edge) about 7 times.
    3. Then tap softly on these spots, about 7 times each:
      • The top of your head
      • Your eyebrow (inner edge)
      • The side of your eye
      • Under your eye
      • Under your nose
      • Your chin
      • Your collarbone
      • Under your arm (about a hand-width down from the armpit)
    4. While you tap, quietly say or think: "Even though I feel this, I am okay."
    5. Take a slow breath. Notice how you feel now.

That's one round. You can do it once, or a few times, until things feel a little softer.

    When tapping helps

    • Before something stressful, like a tough meeting or appointment
    • When your mind is racing and you can't switch off
    • When you feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed
    • At night when sleep feels far away
    • For children, in a soft, simple version, when big feelings come up

🌿 Soft tools that pair beautifully with tapping

Our Stress Reduction Cards give you small prompts to use alongside tapping. The Calm Down Cards for Kids can help children name their feelings before tapping along.
